Last night (16 May 2013) we took nearly 100 Whatsonstage.com Theatregoers to see Maria Friedman‘s acclaimed revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Merrily We Roll Along, which has transferred from the Menier Chocolate Factory to the West End’s Harold Pinter Theatre.

Sondheim’s musical, which
travels backwards in time through three decades following the lives of
three friends, stars Mark Umbers, Jenna Russell and Damian
Humbley
. It features songs including “Not
a Day Goes By”, “Our Time” and “Old Friends”.

Friedman, long-established as a leading Sondheim performer, makes her directing debut with the show, which won her a Whatsonstage.com Award nomination for Best Newcomer. The show also won a Critics’ Circle Award for Best Musical (New or Revival).

Following the performance we were joined for a Q&A with Friedman and the company.
