She’s leading Jamie Lloyd’s revival
WhatsOnStage Award winner Nicole Scherzinger has spoken out about a potential film adaptation of Sunset Boulevard.
Jamie Lloyd’s revival of the Andrew Lloyd Webber-Don Black-Christopher Hampton musical made a big splash in the West End in 2024 and has now received seven Tony Award nominations.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter at yesterday’s Meet the Tony Award nominees event, Scherzinger was asked about a film adaptation of the production.
“There has been some talk. That is my dream, so I’m manifesting that right now,” she responded.
Scherzinger, who has been vocal in the past about how much her Broadway debut means to her, has quite the knack for making dreams a reality. She picked up the WhatsOnStage Award and the Olivier Award for her Norma Desmond, and is now competing for the Tony to complete the trifecta.
Additionally, a Sunset Boulevard film with original star Glenn Close has been in talks for a while. The last update we had for that version was Close saying that it was “moving forward,” adding: “The movie is in the works and I’m not giving up on that one.”
Close, who was Broadway’s first Norma Desmond, recently visited Scherzinger in the show on Broadway, as did Patti LuPone (who famously created the role in London) – she gave her verdict on the production.
