Michael Ball Falls for Chichester Love Story???

With a forthcoming TV chatshow and a national tour of Hairspray to think about, you would think Michael Ball had got enough on his plate. But according to the Daily Mail, the multi-award winning musical theatre star is on the brink of making his producing debut. The project in question is the West End transfer of Love Story, the Chichester Festival Theatre production inspired by Erich Segal’s best-selling weepie novel and subsequent 1970 film.

Featuring music by Howard Goodall (The Hired Man, Days of Hope, Two Cities), a book by Stephen Clark (The Far Pavilions)
and lyrics by Clark and Goodall, the production stars Emma
Williams and Michael Xavier and is directed by Birmingham Rep artistic director Rachel Kavanaugh.

Ball, who is thought to be investing around £250,000, is teaming up with producers Adam Spiegel and Stephen Waley-Cohen to bring it to the West End in November (venue tbc). “It’s a gamble, it is a risk, but I wanted to have a go. I’m not going to have to sell my house if it goes wrong” Ball told the Mail‘s Baz Bamigboye.
