Grease star Danny Bayne leads Saturday Night Fever tour

Danny Bayne, winner of ITV’s Grease is the Word and subsequent star of the musical in the West End and on tour takes the iconic role of Tony Manero in the new production of Saturday Night Fever.

Bayne has also starred in Hairspray on tour as Corny Collins. This role is one that he always dreamed of playing, when asked in interviews.

The smash hit 1977 film of Saturday Night Fever starring Oscar-nominee John Travolta inspired the definitive soundtrack by the Bee Gees and popularised disco around the world. The multi Grammy Award-winning music behind the film, captured the imagination of millions.

The date is 1979 and in Brooklyn, New York, Tony Manero, a young man with a dead-end job and an extraordinary ability to dance, has only one ambition in life – to become the disco king. When he meets Stephanie, who also dreams of a world beyond Brooklyn, and they decide to train together for a dance competition, their lives begin to change forever.

This brand new production is packed with hits from the Bee Gees including the classics "Stayin’ Alive", "Night Fever", "Jive Talking", "You Should Be Dancing" and "How Deep is Your Love?" In this production, the cast play instruments, as well as dance and sing.

The show is directed by Ryan McBryde, and choreographed by Andrew Wright. Wright won Best Choreographer at the WhatsOnStage Awards 2013 and was nominated for Best Choreographer at the 2012 Olivier Awards and Broadway World 2011 Awards for his choreography of Singin’ in the Rain.

Saturday Night Fever is a co-production between Theatre Royal Bath Productions and the Robert Stigwood Organisation. It will open on 12 November 2014 at the Theatre Royal Bath, followed by Manchester from 25 to 29 November and tours the UK.
