Director and playwright Gbolahan Obisesan has been named the Young Vic's new Genesis Fellow.

Obisesan, whose credits at the venue include Mad About The Boy and Feast, succeeds Natalie Abrahami, who held the post from 2012 to 2014.

Artistic director David Lan commented: "We're looking forward to working closely with Gbolahan… I am confident that, as writer and director, he will bring fresh ideas and new energy, as well as helping other younger artists find their voice."

The Young Vic has also announced today that BirdGang Dance Company, which formed in 2005 and have their roots in hip hop culture, are to become a new associate company.

And two new shows go on sale at the Young Vic today: August Strindberg's Creditors (9 – 19 September) in a version by David Greig, directed by Genesis Future Directors Award winner Rikki Henry; and Barrie Keeffe's Barbarians, directed by JMK Award winner Liz Stevenson (27 November – 19 December).
