The West End musical Everybody's Talking About Jamie celebrated its first year in the West End last night with a special performance and a cake version of lead character Jamie New.

The hit show, which first premiered at Sheffield Crucible, is based on the BBC documentary Jamie: Drag Queen at 16 and tells the story of a teenager who aspires to be a drag queen. It picked up the Best New Musical Award at the WhatsOnStage Awards earlier this year and has songs by Dan Gillespie Sells with book and lyrics by Tom Macrae.

It currently stars John McCrea as Jamie New, alongside Rebecca McKinnis as his mum, Margaret, Lucie Shorthouse as Pritti Pasha, Shobna Gulati as Ray and Lee Ross as Hugo/Loco Chanel. RuPaul's Drag Race judge Michelle Visage recently joined the show as Miss Hedge.

Yesterday the show extended its booking until 28 September 2019.
