Doris Day dies aged 97

Hollywood star Doris Day has died aged 97.
Born in Ohio in 1922, the American actress starred in a number of movie musicals throughout her career, including the title role in Calamity Jane and I'll See You in My Dreams. She also appeared in the film adaptations of Broadway musicals such as The Pajama Game, Tea for Two and Billy Rose's Jumbo.
She topped the charts with a number of songs throughout her career including "Love Somebody" and Calamity Jane's "Secret Love", which also won the Academy Award for Best Original Song. She went on to star in The Doris Day Show from 1968 to 1973.
In 2009 she won the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and won a total of six Golden Globes. Aside from performances Day was also a keen animal welfare activist and was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2004.
