A new cast album has been released for Anaïs Mitchell's hit musical Hadestown, which ran at the National Theatre last year and is currently on Broadway.

The Tony Award-winning piece loosely adapts the Greek myth of tragic lovers Orpheus and Eurydice as well as the gods Hades and Persephone. It opened at the National Theatre in November 2018, running until January 2019 before having its official Broadway opening night on April 17. Critic Sarah Crompton said that the show "can take the breath away" in her four-star review.

The cast album features Reeve Carney, André De Shields, Amber Gray, Eva Noblezada, and Patrick Page, all of whom appeared in National production.

Hadestown is based on Mitchell's initial concept album, which mixes American folk with New Orleans jazz.
