Kilworth House Theatre has announced casting for its new revival of Hairspray, marking the first outdoor production of the show in the UK.
The piece will run for 52 performances this summer, from Tuesday, 27 June to Sunday 6 August.
Telling the story of Tracy Turnblad who dreams of making it on television, the hit musical was most recently seen in the West End in 2021. It includes cherished numbers including “Good Morning Baltimore”, “The Nicest Kids in Town”, “Welcome to the 60’s”, “I Know Where I’ve Been”, and “You Can’t Stop the Beat”.
Director and choreographer Lee Proud said: “Hairspray is without doubt one of the most uplifting and joyous musicals ever written, and its messages of inclusion and equality resonate more today than ever before. We have gathered an incredible cast and we can’t wait to see you all at Kilworth House Theatre for an unforgettable night of entertainment.”
The cast for Kilworth House’s production includes Charlotte-Hannah Jones as Tracy Turnblad, Michael J Batchelor as Edna Turnblad, Steven Serlin as Wilbur Turnblad, Jenny Gaynor as Velma Von Tussle, Holly Willock as Amber Von Tussle, Alex Lodge as Link Larkin, Nay-Nay as Seaweed J Stubbs, Ayesha Maynard as Motormouth Maybelle, Liam Doyle as Corny Collins and Biancha Szynal as Penny Pingleton.
The supporting cast features Jessica Niles as Dynamite 1, M-Jae Cleopatra Isaac as Dynamite 2, Jayme-Lee Zanoncelli as Dynamite 3, Eva Phillips as Little Inez / ensemble, Catherine Morris as Female Authority Figure and Daniel Page as Male Authority Figure.
The ensemble includes Emma Hunter as Lou-Ann / Dance Captain, Ann-Marie Craine as Brenda, Madeleine Hargrave as Tammy, Toby Shellard as Brad, Isaac J Lewis as Sketch, George Lyons as Fender and Luke Buck as Duane.
The creative team includes Celia Mackay as producer, Proud as director and choreographer, Emma Hunter as associate choreographer and dance captain, Michael Bradley as musical supervisor and director, Paul Farnsworth as set and costume designer, Jason Taylor as lighting designer, Chris Whybrow as sound designer and Anne Vosser as casting director.
