Bernadette Bangura to join Waitress tour

Bernadette Bangura will join the UK and Ireland tour of Waitress as Becky from 24 August 2026, with her first performance at Bournemouth Pavilion Theatre.

She takes over the role from Sandra Marvin, whose final performance will be on 22 August.

The production currently stars Carrie Hope Fletcher as Jenna, Marvin as Becky, Evelyn Hoskins as Dawn, Les Dennis as Joe, Dan Partridge as Dr Pomatter, Mark Anderson as Ogie, Mark Willshire as Earl and Dan O’Brien as Cal. The company also includes Will Arundell, Yochabel Asante, Alice Croft, Jamie Doncaster, Daniel George-Wright, Will Hardy, Bayley Hart, Olivia Lallo, Emma Lucia, David Mairs-McKenzie and Ellie Ruiz Rodriguez. Fletcher’s final performance in the production will be on 29 September 2026.

Lucia is scheduled to play Jenna at Bournemouth Pavilion Theatre from 24 to 29 August and Hull New Theatre from 1 to 5 September. Lucie Jones will play the role at the King’s Theatre, Glasgow from 6 to 10 October, the Lyceum Theatre, Sheffield from 13 to 17 October, and The Lowry, Salford from 27 to 31 October.

Based on the 2007 film by Adrienne Shelly, Waitress features a book by Jessie Nelson, music and lyrics by Sara Bareilles, direction by Diane Paulus and choreography by Lorin Latarro.

The musical follows expert pie maker Jenna, who dreams of escaping her unhappy marriage. Numbers include “She Used To Be Mine” and “Bad Idea.”

The UK and Ireland tour is produced by Barry and Fran Weissler and David Ian for Crossroads Live.
