Whishaw leads as Luke in Christopher Shinn’s new play at the Almeida
Images have today been released showing Ben Whishaw in rehearsals for Against, Christopher Shinn's new play at the Almeida.
Opening on 18 August with previews in the week prior, the show depicts Luke (Whishaw), an aerospace billionaire in Silicon Valley who sets out to change the world. From there the play also tackles questions of space travel and conversing with God, and what lies beyond our atmosphere.
Directed by Ian Rickson, the show will also star Adelle Leonce and Naomi Wirthner. Rickson had recent success with the West End run of The Goat, or Who is Sylvia? starring Damian Lewis and Sophie Okonedo.
Whishaw returns to the Almeida following his critically acclaimed performance in Bakkhai in 2015. His other theatre credits include West End productions of Mojo and Peter and Alice, and Hamlet at the Old Vic.
Against runs at the Almeida from 18 August to 30 September, with previews from 12 August.
