Agatha Christie’s The Mirror Crack’d revival reveals its Miss Marple

The Mill at Sonning has announced casting for its upcoming revival of Agatha Christie’s The Mirror Crack’d.

Adapted for the stage by Rachel Wagstaff and directed by Jonathan O’Boyle, the play centres on Miss Marple as she investigates a death following a gathering at Gossington Hall, uncovering secrets within the village of St Mary Mead.

Set to star as Miss Marple is Liza Goddard, perhaps best known for her TV appearances in the likes of Bergerac and Give Us a Clue. Her recent stage credits include The Croft, Noises Off and Relatively Speaking.

“I am so excited to be stepping into the shoes of one of the greatest ever fictional sleuths created by the undisputed Queen of Crime,” said Goddard.

“I adore the original book and Rachel Wagstaff has adapted it quite brilliantly for the stage. Even if you know the original story, there are surprises you won’t expect! Agatha Christie loved nothing more than to sit in the corner at parties observing everyone else in the room. It’s my opinion that Miss Marple was the character she created that was closest to Agatha’s own personality.”

Joining Goddard on stage will be Sara Crowe (as Marina Gregg), Annie Wensak (as Dolly Bantry), James Mack (as Chief Inspector Craddock), Saskia Strallen (as Lola Brewster), Paul Kemble (as Cyril Leigh/Assistant Director), Jane Quinn (as Heather Leigh), Elysia Showan (as Cherie), Martin Razpopov (as Giuseppe) and Lydia Kirton (as Ella Zielinsky).

The creative team includes designer Michael Holt, costume designer Natalie Titchener, lighting designer Jamie Platt, sound designer Nick Lodge and casting director Jane Deitch.

Agatha Christie’s The Mirror Crack’d is scheduled to run at The Mill at Sonning from 4 September to 31 October.
