Aaron Tveit join cast of Assassins at Menier Chocolate Factory

The Broadway star will make his UK debut in Jamie Lloyd’s production, and will be joined by Jamie Parker, Harry Morrison and Stewart Clarke

Broadway star Aaron Tveit will join the cast of Jamie Lloyd's Assassins at the Menier Chocolate Factory, making his UK stage debut.

Tveit will play John Wilkes Booth in the production, which opens on 21 November, joining previously announced cast members including Catherine Tate, Carly Bawden, Simon Lipkin, Mike McShane, Andy Nyman and David Roberts.

They will also be joined in the production by Jamie Parker (Guys and Dolls, Proof, The History Boys), Harry Morrison (Guys and Dolls, Kiss Me, Kate, The Sound of Music) and Stewart Clarke (The Return of the Soldier, Cool Rider, Loserville).

Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman's Tony Award-winning musical looks at various historical figures who have assassinated, or tried to, American Presidents.

Aaron Tveit originated roles in both Next to Normal and Catch Me If You Can on Broadway, and other stage credits include Rent, Wicked and Hairspray. He also playes Enjolras in the 2012 film version of Les Misérables.

Running until 7 March 2015, Assassins has set and costume design by Soutra Gilmour, lighting by Neil Austin, sound by Gregory Clarke, musical supervision and direction by Alan Williams and hair and make-up by Richard Mawbey.
