Nadia Fall is to take over the running of Theatre Royal Stratford East.

The director will replace Kerry Michael as the artistic director of the theatre, one of the most important Off West End venues in London.

Fall, who will take up the role full time from 1 January 2018, commented: "I am absolutely thrilled to have been asked to take on the role of artistic director at Theatre Royal Stratford East. It is one of the most beautiful houses steeped in an incredible theatre history that goes back to the great Joan Littlewood."

Michael said: "I’m delighted that Nadia is taking over from me. She’s an exciting director whose work I have admired for some time now and, she will be a welcome new voice to the cohorts of leaders of buildings in this country. "

Fall is associate director at the National Theatre and her directing credits include Hir (Bush Theatre), The Suicide and Our Country's Good, Chewing Gum Dreams (National Theatre), Way Upstream (Chichester Festival Theatre) and Hobson's Choice (Regent's Park Open Air Theatre).
