Richard Winsor will lead the cast of Saturday Night Fever, playing the role of Tony Manero in the new stage production.

Telling the tale of reckless dancer Manero, the musical features a variety of '70s songs including "Stayin' Alive", "How Deep Is Your Love" and "More Than A Woman". It is based on the classic film of the same name, which starred John Travolta.

Winsor joins the cast in what will be his first leading role in a major musical and his first stage performance since completing a three-year stint on Casualty. He spent ten years as a principal dancer in the Matthew Bourne Company, leading Swan Lake, and also lead the cast of StreetDance 3D.

The stage version will feature new choreography from Bill Deamer, with direction and production by Bill Kenwright, designs by Gary McCaan, lighting by Nick Richings, and sound by Dan Samson. The stage adaptation is by Robert Stigwood in collaboration with Bill Oakes.

Opening at the New Wimbledon Theatre on 30 August, the UK and Ireland tour runs until 1 December.
