Ruth Jones to star in UK tour of new play The Nightingales

Ruth Jones (Gavin and Stacey) will star in the UK tour of The Nightingales, which opens in Bath later this year.

Directed by Christopher Luscombe (Nell Gwynn), the piece follows Maggie (Jones) as she turns up for her first day rehearsing as part of a local acapella group. It is written by William Gaminara (who starred in Silent Witness) whose previous stage credits include According to Hoyle and The Three Lions.

The show opens at Theatre Royal Bath on 31 October before touring to Cambridge, Cardiff, Chichester and Malvern prior to a West End transfer, with venue and dates to be announced. Further casting for the show is also to be announced.

Since co-writing and appearing in Gavin and Stacey Jones has been the lead in the TV show Stella on Sky One, and has written a number of novels.
