Grand Opera House York is a Grade II listed, 1,000-seat commercial theatre located on Cumberland Street in the city centre. Originally constructed in 1868 as a corn exchange and warehouse, the building was converted into a music hall and theatre in 1902. Following decades of changing uses – including periods as a bingo hall and roller-skating rink – it was restored to theatrical use in the late 1980s.

Now operated by ATG Entertainment, the venue functions as York’s primary receiving house. Its programme focuses on large-scale touring productions, including West End musicals, opera, ballet, stand-up comedy, and live music.
