The ”Into the Woods” actor shows us around the Menier Chocolate Factory
Transferring from New York, Patrick Mulryan will star in Into the Woods at the Menier Chocolate Factory when it opens on 12 July. The production will be his first in the London; his previous credits in America include Cabaret, The Importance of Being Earnest and A Christmas Carol.
Patrick took us behind the scenes to see what life is like backstage at the Menier.
PM: I found this mug in the cupboard at the Menier. I immediately fell in love. Not only does it offer wonderful advice, but our stage manager informed me that the last person to favor this mug was Steven Hoggett!!! And Steven Hoggett is simply AWESOME.
PM: Meet Sarah! She's on our incredible sound team. They make us sound amazing. We all wear a lot of hats in this show (literally and figuratively) and Sarah makes sure our mics don't get disturbed and our hair stays on point!
PM: The British treat of choice for this American cast. Everyone loves a little sugar during the interval!
PM: Look at this handsome group of gents! All supremely talented and man can they rock a set of braces.
PM: The great love story of Into the Woods (at least in my opinion) is the one of a boy and his cow. I am insanely lucky to have Andy Grotelueschen as my Milky White. The man is a comic GENIUS and makes my job such a joy and my performance so much deeper.
PM: The Menier features fun rehearsal photos in their programmes. I love this shot of me and Emily Young laughing and the shot of Lapine and Sondheim opposite. We were lucky enough to get to work with James and Stephen when developing this production. Having the programme in the dressing room is like having them there watching over us.
PM: In addition to interval sweets, I always have a protein bar on hand. It's hard work slaying giants.
Into the Woods will run at the Menier Chocolate Factory from 12 July to 17 September.
