The screen-to-stage production premieres at the Noel Coward Theatre next week
The trailer has been released for the stage adaptation of Shakespeare in Love, which is currently in previews at the Noel Coward Theatre ahead of opening on Wednesday (23 July 2014).
Plagued by debt, tormented by writer's block and in desperate need of a new hit, promising new playwright Will Shakespeare (Tom Bateman) finds his muse in the form of passionate young noblewoman, Viola De Lesseps (Lucy Briggs-Owen).
Their forbidden love soon draws everyone, including Queen Elizabeth (Anna Carteret), into the drama and inspires Will to write the greatest love story of all time, Romeo and Juliet.
The roles of Will and Viola were immortalised on screen by Joseph Fiennes and Gwyneth Paltrow, while Judi Dench won an Oscar for her portrayal of the Queen.
Shakespeare in Love is adapted for the stage by Lee Hall (Billy Elliot) from the Oscar-winning screenplay by Marc Norman and Tom Stoppard.
