Teri Hatcher to play Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada

Teri Hatcher is to play Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada: The Musical in the West End, the show has announced on its social media channels and website.

The Golden Globe-winning actor will take over as the editor-in-chief of Runway magazine at the Dominion Theatre from 20 October 2026, following Vanessa Williams’ final performance on 19 September.

Debbie Kurup will play the role between Williams’ departure and Hatcher’s arrival, with Kurup performing until 17 October. Matt Henry will continue as Nigel in the show, with further company to be revealed.

Hatcher is best known for her television roles in Desperate Housewives and Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. She made her musical theatre debut as Sally Bowles in the national tour of Sam Mendes’ revival of Cabaret, and more recently played Morticia Addams in The Addams Family. Hatcher is currently scheduled to play her final performance on 6 February 2027.

The Devil Wears Prada: The Musical opened in the West End in December 2024 and is currently booking at the Dominion Theatre until 25 September 2027. The production is due to reach its 800th performance on 23 September and has sold more than 1.2 million tickets.

The musical has music by Elton John, direction and choreography by Jerry Mitchell, lyrics by Shaina Taub and Mark Sonnenblick, a book by Kate Wetherhead, set design by Tim Hatley, costume design by Gregg Barnes, lighting design by Bruno Poet, sound design by Gareth Owen and casting by Jill Green.

Based on Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 novel and the 2006 film, the musical follows Andy Sachs, a journalist who takes a job at Runway magazine under the demanding Miranda Priestly.

The production originally ran at Theatre Royal Plymouth from 6 July to 17 August 2024 before transferring to London.

The Devil Wears Prada: The Musical is produced by Kevin McCollum, David Furnish and Jamie Wilson, in association with Theatre Royal Plymouth and presented by special arrangement with Buena Vista Theatrical.
