The classic text is brought to the stage as part of a ten-week tour

The Yvonne Arnaud Theatre and Shared Experience will co-produce a new stage adaptation of Anne Brontë’s The Tenant of Wildfell Hall, adapted by Katherine Moar and directed by Joanna Read.
The novel follows Helen, who lives with her son in the isolated and deteriorating Wildfell Hall after escaping an abusive marriage. It is now regarded as one of the earliest feminist novels.
The production will open at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre in Guildford on 9 September 2027, with a press night on 14 September, before embarking on a ten-week national tour. Venues confirmed so far include Oxford, Bath, Blackpool, Eastbourne and Malvern, with further dates to be announced. It marks the first collaboration between the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre and Shared Experience.
After Guildford, the tour will visit Oxford Playhouse from 28 September to 2 October, Theatre Royal Bath from 5 to 9 October, Blackpool Grand Theatre from 12 to 16 October, Devonshire Park Theatre in Eastbourne from 19 to 23 October and Festival Theatre in Malvern from 16 to 20 November.
Moar’s debut play, Farm Hall, premiered at Jermyn Street Theatre in April 2023 before transferring to the Theatre Royal Haymarket in 2024. She was nominated for Most Promising Debut Playwright at the Offies for the production. Her second play, Ragdoll, opened at Jermyn Street Theatre in October 2025 and earned her nominations for Most Promising Playwright at the Evening Standard and Critics’ Circle Awards.
The production goes on general sale in Guildford on 6 November 2026, with other tour dates to follow. Casting and the full creative team are yet to be announced.
