Spamilton, the parody musical which satirises and lampoons the musical Hamilton, will make its UK premiere this summer.

Written and directed by Gerard Alessandrini, the piece originally premiered in New York in 2016. It features numbers including "Look Around (The Schuyler Puppets)", "The Film When It Happens" and "Aaron Burr, Sir, Nervous-er" and also parodies musicals including Sweeney Todd, Gypsy and The Book of Mormon. The show went on to be nominated for two Drama Desk Awards and a Drama League Award.

Hamilton's creator Lin-Manuel Miranda said that he "laughed his brains out" when he first saw the parody show. Miranda's musical opened in December in the West End, where it was nominated for a record-breaking 13 Olivier Award nominations, winning seven.

Spamilton is the second collaboration between Alessandrini and the Menier Chocolate Factory, following Forbidden Broadway which ran both at the Menier and in the West End. It opens on 12 July and runs through until 8 September, with casting and full creative team to be announced.
