Sheridan Smith is to take on the role of the Narrator in the upcoming revival of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at The London Palladium.

The show, which opens in previews from 27 June this year and runs to 8 September 2019, will be directed by Laurence Connor, designed by Morgan Large and have choreography from JoAnn M Hunter. Ben Cracknell designs the lighting while Gareth Owen is sound designer.

Smith's previous theatre work includes the critically acclaimed Funny Girl which ran at the Menier Chocolate Factory and the Savoy Theatre, Little Shop of Horrors (Menier Chocolate Factory) and Legally Blonde (Savoy Theatre). Her TV credits include Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps and Gavin and Stacey as well as the current Cleaning Up.

Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical is based on the story of the coat of many colours from the Bible's Book of Genesis.

The piece, which was originally released as a concept album in 1969, features numbers such as "Close Every Door", "Benjamin Calypso" and "Any Dream Will Do". It was last in the West End in 2007, starring winner of the Any Dream Will Do TV show Lee Mead.

The production has tickets from £20 (and £10 for previews) and the rest of the casting and creative team are to be confirmed.
