Francesca Moody Productions is overseeing the space

Francesca Moody Productions’ Shedinburgh will return to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2026, ahead of its first London season at Young Vic Theatre.
The project will run at a new home – Assembly Checkpoint – in Edinburgh from 7 to 30 August, before transferring to the Maria Studio at the Young Vic from 19 September to 10 October.
The 2026 edition will include curated strands from organisations including Forest Fringe, which returns to the Fringe for the first time in a decade with a two-day programme, and Birmingham Hippodrome, whose new musical theatre department will present work across two days. The Shed Originals programme will also expand through partnerships with Abbey Theatre, Theatr Clwyd, The Lowry and Traverse Theatre to support new work from artists across the UK and Ireland.
The Fringe programme will expand to more than 70 shows, each running for one to three performances, spanning theatre, comedy and music.
After its Edinburgh run, Shedinburgh will relocate to London, presenting more than 40 shows from the Fringe programme during a three-week residency at the Young Vic. The season marks the company’s first presentation outside Edinburgh and forms part of its ongoing development.
The initiative continues to operate a model in which artists receive financial guarantees as well as travel and accommodation, alongside Pay What You Can ticketing. Its development strand, Shed Originals, will offer paid time and collaboration opportunities for mid-career artists, culminating in work-in-progress sharings in both cities.
Shedinburgh began as a digital project during the cancellation of the Fringe and has since evolved into a live venue, presenting 36 performances in 2025. Artists previously involved include Richard Gadd, Steve Coogan, Tobias Menzies and Sophie Duker.
Alongside the main programme, Francesca Moody Productions will also present Garry Starr: Classic Penguins at the Pleasance Grand and The Scaring by Crybabies during the 2026 Fringe, both running from 5 to 30 August.
Full programme details for Shedinburgh 2026 are due to be announced in May, with tickets going on sale the same month.
