It has been confirmed that Ralph Fiennes will play the titular role in Shakespeare's Richard III alongside Academy Award-winner Vanessa Redgrave at the Almeida in June.

Almeida's artistic director Rupert Goold will direct Fiennes – currently starring in The Master Builder at the Old Vic – with Redgrave playing Queen Margaret, following in the footsteps of her daughter Joely Richardson who undertook the role in Trevor Nunn's The Wars of the Roses last year.

Redgrave was last seen on the London stage in 2013 opposite James Earl Jones in Mark Rylance's production of Much Ado About Nothing at The Old Vic.

Further casting and ticket details are due to be announced next month.
