Playwright and screenwriter Rebecca Lenkiewicz has announced All the Rage, a new site-responsive production at Theatre Deli in London.

Conceived as a response to the release of the Epstein Files, the production has been created by more than 70 female-identifying and non-binary playwrights and artists. The piece explores themes including institutional silence, cultural complicity and misogyny across a theatrical event staged throughout a repurposed office building.

The production takes place across 15 spaces within Theatre Deli’s Leadenhall Street site. Audiences will first move through a series of installations, performances and scenes unfolding across the office floor before coming together for a shared concluding section designed to unite the project’s multiple voices.

The project was conceived by in a playwriting WhatsApp group following the release of the files. Lenkiewicz, famously the first female playwright to premiere a play on the National’s Olivier stage in 2008, is producing alongside Deborah Pearson and Anoushka Warden for the collective, in co-production with Roxanne Carney and Theatre Deli. Direction is by Lucy Morrison.

Speaking about the project, Lenkiewicz said: “The need to make this piece came from a collective rage in response to the Epstein files. Not only the horrific events that took place globally, but also how the narrative has been shaped by the press – fixating on the money and the men, rather than the girls and young women who were at the centre of it.

“We are dealing with epic subjects; violence, abuse of power, misogyny, and trauma. The artistic responses across the group have been fascinating – muscular, fragile, formally inventive and all charged with a rebellious spirit. The space has been central to that process. Theatre Deli, Leadenhall Street has provided us with an incredible environment – an entire empty office floor in a former insurance building in the heart of the financial district. A space once defined by money and male power, we are transforming it into a surreal home for a unique theatrical experience.

“It will be both epic and intimate. We are angry and we are united. Unity is a great thing, and anger is a brilliant and beautiful fuel for creating art.”

The writers contributing to the project include Alison Jean Baker, Andrea Lowe, Anna Jordan, Warden, Aoife Lennon, Beattie Green, Bex Bowsher, Chantelle Dusette, Chloe Palmer, Clare Barstow, Cordelia Lynn, Deborah Pearson, Eleanor Hope-Jones, Ellen Bannerman, Emily White, Emma Adams, Emteaz Hussain, Genevieve Dawson, Georgia Fitch, Grace Chapple, Gurpreet Kaur Bhatti, Hannah Mulder, Harriet Madeley, Jane Upton, Jasmine Naziha Jones, Jaz Lee-Jones, Jemma Kennedy, Jennifer Lunn, Jenifer Toksvig, Jessica Siân, Jill O’Halloran, Judith Johnson, Julia Grogan, Julie Tsang, Karen Cogan, Karis Kelly, Katharine Fry, Katie Salt, Kayla Feldman, Kelly Jones, Kerry Fitzgerald, Laura Horton, Laura Lomas, Laurie Ogden, Lisa Parry, Lucinda Coxon, Lucy Edkins, Lucy Kirkwood, Manjinder Virk, Maria Messias Mendes, Maud Dromgoole, Melissa Dunne, Molly Davies, Naomi Westerman, Noga Flaishon, Oriana, Penelope Skinner, Phoebe Eclair-Powell, Poppy Corbett, Rachel Mars, Rachel McKay, Rachel Tookey, Rafaella Marcus, Rebecca Brewer, Rebecca Crookshank, Rebecca Jade Hammond, Rebecca Lenkiewicz, Rebecca Manley, Ruth D’Silva, Sadie Pearson, Sarah Hehir, Sarah Sigal, Sasha Frost, Selina Thompson, Suhayla El-Bushra, Temi Wilkey, Timberlake Wertenbaker, Victoria Richards and Zinnie Harris.
