Further shows have been forced to cancel performances as riots continue to cause unrest across the country.

Earlier today it was reported that two performances of The Wizard of Oz had been pulled in Sunderland.

The touring production of Jesus Christ Superstar, currently in Cheltenham, tweeted: “Due to circumstances beyond our control it has become necessary for us to cancel tonight’s performance of JCS. Please accept our apologies for the disappointment this will undoubtedly cause and for the short notice. Please contact your original point of sale to exchange your ticket for another performance or request a refund.”

Pretty Woman has also cancelled a tour performance, saying: “With protests planned to take place in Southend today we are
regretfully unable to provide the two scheduled performances at the Cliffs Pavilion. All those with tickets for the affected performances will be contacted to make the necessary arrangements to reschedule or refund their purchases.”

Performances of Come From Away at Newcastle Theatre Royal were cancelled, though all further performances have been set to go ahead.

We will update as we receive more details.
