James Dreyfus has withdrawn from the upcoming production of Florian Zeller The Lie, it has been announced. The show was due to begin previews on 14 September, with an opening night on 27 September.

Leaving on medical grounds, the actor will be replaced by Alexander Hanson, husband to actress Samantha Bond, who also stars in the production.

Hanson previously starred in The Truth, which ran at the Menier last year and then transferred to the West End, where it was nominated for an Olivier Award for Best Comedy.

Previews may be cancelled due to Hanson stepping in so late in the rehearsal process, and the Menier will be in touch directly with any members of the public affected.

The Lie runs at the Menier Chocolate Factory from 27 September to 18 November with previews beginning on an unconfirmed date.
