Hadley Fraser and Ross Noble will appear in at the Garrick in September
Initial casting has been announced for the new production of Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein.
Dr Frankenstein will be played by Hadley Fraser who made his West End debut as Marius in Les Misérables in 2002. His other theatre credits include Coriolanus, City of Angels and The Vote (Donmar Warehouse).
Comedian Ross Noble will play Igor. Noble is best known for his stand-up comedy and appearances on panel shows such as QI and Have I Got News For You. He has worked with Brooks in the past, appearing in the 2015 touring production of The Producers with Jason Manford.
The cast also includes Lesley Joseph (Frau Blucher), Dianne Pilkington, Summer Strallen and Patrick Clancy.
Joining them will be Imogen Brooke, Matt Crandon, Nathan Elwick, Kelly Ewins-Prouse, Andrew Gordon-Watkins, Sammy Kelly, Richard Pitt, Harriet Samuel-Gray, Gemma Scholes, Emily Squibb, Aron Wild and Josh Wilmott.
With a book by Brooks and Thomas Meehan, with music and lyrics by Brooks, the story is about Frederick Frankenstein who inherits his grandfather's castle in Transylvania. Gene Wilder played the title role in the 1974 film.
The production will open at Newcastle Theatre Royal on 26 August before opening in London in September.
