The company had its second off-Broadway season

Audible Theater and Together, the theatrical partnership led by Sonia Friedman and Hugh Jackman, have concluded their second repertory season at New York’s Minetta Lane Theatre following three productions directed by Ian Rickson.
The season ended on 14 June with the final performance of What Happened Was…, following the conclusion of New Born on 8 June. Earlier in the season, a return engagement of Sexual Misconduct of the Middle Classes ran from 17 March to 20 May.
Friedman and Jackman said: “What a season. From the moment we returned to the Minetta Lane, we felt something genuinely special taking shape between these plays, the artists and our audiences. We’ve been deeply moved by the generosity, openness and connection that greeted every performance, and incredibly proud of what we’ve built together with Ian Rickson, our brilliant writers, performers and the remarkable team at Audible Theater, led by Kate Navin.
“Accessibility and human connection have been at the heart of everything we’ve done. These productions were created to bring people together through storytelling and shared experience. Knowing they will now continue to reach audiences around the world through global audio releases feels both meaningful and deeply rewarding. We’re also excited to build on the work we’ve been doing over the past two years, continuing to champion exceptional plays and artists and create work that brings people together.”
What Happened Was…, the first major revival of Tom Noonan’s play, starred Corey Stoll and Cecily Strong. It will be released globally as an Audible Original on 29 October 2026.
New Born, written by Ella Hickson and originally commissioned by Sonia Friedman Productions and Audible Theater, featured three monologues performed by Marianna Gailus, Jackman and Sepideh Moafi. The production will be released as an Audible Original on 28 January 2027. Our critic Sarah Crompton discusses the show on the WhatsOnStage Podcast.
Both productions featured understudies Atra Asdou, Sophia Talwalkar and R.J. Foster in dedicated matinee performances during their runs.
The season opened with Hannah Moscovitch’s Sexual Misconduct of the Middle Classes, starring Ella Beatty and Jackman. The production is already available on Audible.
According to the companies, 25 per cent of tickets for every performance were made available for $35 on the day of each show, with more than 11, 000 accessibly priced and complimentary tickets distributed across the season. Audible Theater and Together also continued their partnership with TDF, providing 50 complimentary tickets per performance for community organisations across the tri-state area.
Kate Navin, Audible’s head of creative development for North America, said: “Collaborating once again with Sonia, Hugh, and Ian is a genuine privilege, as we all further our commitment to making world-class theatre featuring extraordinary artists accessible to audiences everywhere. Collaborating on these productions at Audible’s Minetta Lane Theater and then for listeners worldwide is exactly the kind of impact we dreamed of when this collaboration began. We’re grateful to every artist, every understudy, the entire crew and every audience member who made this season unforgettable.”
Together was launched by Friedman and Jackman to present fully rehearsed productions in intimate venues, with an emphasis on accessibility, ensemble work and affordable ticket pricing. According to the company, there are plans to stage shows in the UK in the future.
