Initial casting for the revival of Arthur Miller’s play has been announced
Casting has been announced for the upcoming revival of The American Clock at the Old Vic.
The cast includes Amber Aga, Paul Bentall, Greg Bernstein, Clare Burt, Flora Dawson, Abhin Galeya, Fred Haig, Jyuddah Jaymes, John Marquez, Francesca Mills, Taheen Modak, Christian Patterson, Golda Rosheuvel, Abdul Salis, Josie Walker and Ewan Wardrop. Further casting is yet to be announced.
Rachel Chavkin directs the piece, which is about hope, idealism and capitalism and was written by Arthur Miller and first performed in the 1980s. The production has music that fuses 1920s swing and jazz with a
contemporary sound from Justin Ellington.
The story follows the Baum family as they navigate the aftermath of the Great Depression. Chavkin marks the changing face and evolution of the American family by having three sets of actors in the roles of Moe, Rose and Lee Baum for each performance. It runs from 13 February 2019 with previews from 4 February.
The piece has designs from Chloe Lamford, costume by Rosie Elnile, choreography from Ann Yee, lighting from Natasha Chivers, sound from Darron L West, casting from Jessica Ronane CDG and musical direction from Jim Henson.
