Prince Charles visited the theatre this afternoon in his role as royal patron
The Prince of Wales visited the Old Vic Theatre this afternoon to mark the venue's 200th birthday.
His royal highness is the royal patron for the 200th birthday and guests and supporters of the theatre were invited to watch a specially curated showcase of the Old Vic's work on and off stage to mark the occasion. There were live performances from Sylvia, a reading from Josie Walker to celebrate Lilian Baylis' work and Shirley Henderson performed "Forever Young" from The Girl From the North Country.
Earlier this year the Old Vic announced a partnership with The Prince's Trust which where the Old Vic will help in the trust's mission to help young people transform their lives.
Prince of Wales said today: "As The Old Vic celebrates this remarkable milestone, I can only congratulate its staff and supporters on all that has been achieved so far and I wish this great national institution every possible success for the next two hundred years."
