Lucy Kirkwood’s play celebrates its tenth anniversary

Full casting has been revealed for a new production of The Children.
Lucy Kirkwood’s play will be directed by Rachel O’Riordan, artistic director of Lyric Hammersmith Theatre, to mark its tenth anniversary.
As already revealed, Meera Syal will star as Hazel in the show, which is set on the edge of a radiation exclusion zone, and follows a pair of friends as they attempt to maintain a sense of normality after a catastrophe.
She will be joined by Declan Conlon as Robin and Kerry Fox as Rose.
O’Riordan said: “I’m very excited to announce the full cast for our tenth anniversary production of The Children by Lucy Kirkwood. We’re thrilled to have both Meera Syal and Declan Conlon returning to the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre as well as welcoming the amazing Kerry Fox for the first time. I cannot wait for audiences to experience this modern classic and to work with such an incredible company of artists.”
The creative team includes Gary McCann (set and costume design), Anna Watson (lighting design) and Holly Khan (sound design), with casting by Anna Cooper.
The production runs at the venue from Wednesday 2 September to Saturday 3 October 2026.
