Full cast joining Fra Fee and Simon Russell Beale in Alan Cumming-directed I’ll Be Seeing You revealed

Pitlochry Festival Theatre has announced full casting for the world premiere of I’ll Be Seeing You.

Penned by Martin Sherman, the new play follows a young writer attempting to create a play about entertainer Liberace, whom he believes concealed his true self behind performance and glamour.

Forming part of Cumming’s first season as artistic director of Pitlochry Festival Theatre, the play will run from 22 September to 11 October in the venue’s studio. It will be directed by Alan Cumming and designed by Tim Hatley.

As already revealed, the cast will include Simon Russell Beale and Fra Fee in the lead roles.

They will be joined by Adam Kashmiry, Anne Lacey, Ali Watt, Greg Powrie and playwright Sherman, making his stage acting debut.

The creative team will also include lighting designer Grant Anderson, choreographer Stuart Wilson and historical content consultant Jonathan Warren.

Cumming called the world premiere a “huge event,” adding that he expects it to be “a confection like no other seen on the PFT stage, a mirage of rhinestone and glitz, about a man who played with and for us in equal measure.”

He explained that the Liberace Foundation has given access to his collection in Las Vegas for research purposes.

Speaking about the cast, the director said: “We are so honoured to have the great Simon Russell Beale playing Liberace, and Fra Fee as a writer forced to create a play about him, and Martin Sherman himself will be taking the stage too!

“This will be an evening unlike anything seen in our theatre in the hills! Gird your loins!”
