The Almeida Theatre has announced the full cast for its upcoming production of Romeo and Juliet.

Alongside the previously announced Isis Hainsworth and Toheeb Jimoh, the production will feature Raphael Akuwudike (Balthazar), Jamie Ballard (Capulet), Miles Barrow (Benvolio), Amanda Bright (Lady Capulet), Luke Cinque-White (Servant/Gregory), James Cooney (Paris), Paul Higgins (Friar), Jyuddah Jaymes (Tybalt), Kieron Jecchinis (Prince), Jo McInnes (Nurse), Daniel Phung (Apothecary/Samson), Jack Riddiford (Mercutio) and Gideon Turner (Montague).

Hainsworth, whose previous work includes Our Ladies of Perpetual Succour and A Midsummer Night’s Dream, will take on the role of Juliet, while Jimoh, an Emmy Award nominee and star of Ted Lasso and Nine Lessons and Carols: stories for a long winter, will play Romeo.

Frecknall, Almeida’s associate director and Olivier Award-winner for her production of A Streetcar Named Desire, will direct the Shakespearean classic about tragic teenage love. Previews for the production begin on Tuesday 6 June, with the show officially opening on Wednesday 14 June and running until Saturday 29 July.

The production will feature set design by Chloe Lamford, costume design by Debbie Duru, lighting design by Lee Curran, and sound design by Gareth Fry. Julia Horan CDG handles casting, with Jonathan Holby serving as fight director.
