”A Streetcar Named Desire” – free performance and new production shots revealed

ATG Creative Learning and Community Partnerships have teamed up with the Almeida Theatre to stage an extra performance of the hit West End transfer of A Streetcar Named Desire specifically for underrepresented groups and those aged 25 and under to see the show for free.

A total of 500 tickets will be made available for the special performance on Tuesday 2 May at 2pm. They will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis from 5pm tomorrow, 25 April at www.streetcarwestend.com/u25

Another 500 tickets are being offered directly to specific community and outreach groups.

Director Rebecca Frecknall said: “I am delighted that ATG and the Almeida Theatre can offer this extra performance of Streetcar to ensure that audiences and groups that can’t normally access West End theatre will be able to see the production. I am really proud that we can offer this extra performance and want to thank the company for agreeing to do this extra show”.

In addition, new production images of the acclaimed revival have also been released today.

At the 2023 Olivier Awards, A Streetcar Named Desire was named Best Revival, with Paul Mescal taking home the award for Best Actor and Anjana Vasan picking up Best Supporting Actress in a Play. Patsy Ferran recently won the award for Best Actress at the Critics’ Circle Awards.

Alongside Mescal (as Stanley), Ferran (as Blanche) and Vasan (as Stella), the cast also includes Eduardo Ackerman (as Pablo), Alexander Eliot (as Steve), Gabriela García (as Mexican Woman), Cash Holland (as Eunice), Tom Penn (as Doctor/Drummer), Jabez Sykes (as Young Collector), and Dwane Walcott (as Mitch). Rob Dempsey, Francesca Knight, Zach Parkin and Constanza Ruff serve as understudies.

The creative team also features set designer Madeleine Girling, costume designer Merle Hensel, lighting designer Lee Curran, sound designer Peter Rice, composer Angus MacRae and casting director Julia Horan CDG.

A Streetcar Named Desire runs at the Phoenix Theatre until 6 May.
