The play made the final rounds of Soho Theatre’s Verity Bargate Award for emerging playwrights
Casting has been announced for Fury, a new play which will receive its world premiere at Soho Theatre in July.
Written by Phoebe Eclair-Powell, Soho Theatre's Writer in Residence who wrote the play as part of Soho Theatre's Young Writers' programme, the production is set against the backdrop of a Peckham council flat and follows a young, single mum who society has forgotten whilst also examining gentrification in London.
Leading the cast will be Sarah Ridgeway (Forget Me Not, Bush Theatre) and Alex Austin (Yenn, Royal Court) as Sam, the single mother of two and Tom, Sam's postgraduate student neighbour.
They will be joined by Naana Agyei-Ampadu (The Oresteia, Globe) as Woman, Daniel Kendrick (So Here We Are, Royal Exchange) as Man and Anita-Joy Uwajeh (Otherlo, Smooth Faced Gentlemen) as Fury. All three performers will make up the chorus of three voices.
Co-produced with Damsel Productions, Fury will feature set design by Anna Reid, lighting design by Natasha Chivers and music and sound by Nathan Klein.
Fury runs at Soho Theatre from 5 to 30 July.
