Exclusive: Casting announced for first major revival of Jerusalem at the Watermill

Lisa Blair directs the first major revival of Jez Butterworth’s multi-award-winning play

Casting has been announced for the first major revival of Jez Butterworth's Jerusalem which opens at the Watermill Theatre in June.

Leading the cast as Johnny 'Rooster' Byron will be Jasper Britton. He will be joined by Adam Burton (My Briliant Friend, Rose) as Luke Parsons/Troy Whitworth, Peter Caulfield (Jesus Christ Superstar, Regent's Park Open Air Theatre) as Ginger, Rebecca Lee (Romeo and Juliet, Watermill) as Tanya, Nenda Neurer (The Borrowers, Watermill) as Pea/Phaedra and Sam Swann (Pomona, National Theatre) as Lee.

Completing the cast is Richard Evans as The Professor, Robert Fitch as Wesley, Santino Smith as Davey and Natalie Walter as Linda Fawcett/Dawn.

Britton was most recently seen on stage in Scrooge at Curve, Leicester and has other credits including 
The Libertine (West End), Henry IV Parts 1 & 2 (Royal Shakespeare Company), Little Shop of Horrors (Menier Chocolate Factory) and Paradise Lost (Headlong). His screen credits include The Royal, Heartbeat and Highlander.

Jez Butterworth's contemporary classic premiered at the Royal Court Theatre in 2009, starring Mark Rylance as Johnny "Rooster" Byron and Mackenzie Crook as Ginger, before transferring to the West End in 2010 and Broadway in 2011. Directed by Lisa Blair, this new production will run at the Watermill Theatre from 21 June to 21 July.

The production will have design by Frankie Bradshaw, lighting by Christopher Nairne, and sound and musical direction by Tom Attwood.
