Venues and dates revealed for new musical about Dusty Springfield, starring Katherine Kingsley
Dates and venues have been announced for the upcoming tour of Dusty, the new Dusty Springfield musical.
Directed by Maria Friedman, the show stars Katherine Kingsley in the titular role and is based on the authorised biography of the singer. The show will open at the Theatre Royal Bath in June 2018, before touring the UK.
Other dates include Sheffield Lyceum (10 July to 14 July), Newcastle Theatre Royal (17 July to 21 July) and The Lowry, Salford (24 July to 28 July).
The script has been written by Jonathan Harvey, and will feature songs including "I Only Want to Be With You", "Son of a Preacher Man" and "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me".
The original book about Dusty Springfield originates from notes and memoirs of the late singer's close friend and manager Vicki Wickham as well as conversations with her lifelong personal assistant Pat Rhodes and her record company executive Tris Penna.
Springfield, who was born in London, began her career in the 1950s and became one of the world's most loved singers.
Kingsley's previous roles include Marlene Dietrich in Piaf (Donmar Warehouse), Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (Savoy Theatre), and Helena in Michael Grandage's A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Dusty opens at Theatre Royal Bath between 23 June and 7 July and then tours the UK.
