Adam Lambert has joined the cast of Jesus Christ Superstar.

As previously announced, Cynthia Erivo will play Jesus in the new production of the musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. Originally released as a concept album, it reflects on the final weeks in the life of Jesus Christ, as told through the eyes of Judas.

Lambert, who was recently seen as the Emcee in Cabaret on Broadway, will take on the role of Judas.

Tony Award winner Sergio Trujillo will serve as director and choreographer, with Tony winner Stephen Oremus as musical director and conductor. Casting is by the Telsey Office, and the piece is produced in association with Neil Meron and Robert Greenblatt.

Emmy, Grammy, and Tony winner, and three-time Oscar nominee, Erivo previously appeared on an all-female album version of the show, playing the role of Mary.

Performances will take place at the Hollywood Bowl between Friday, 1 to Sunday, 3 August 2025.
