Cynthia Erivo, James Norton and Danny Dyer to host SNL UK

Saturday Night Live UK has revealed the next three celebrities taking on hosting duties.

Now in its second series, the late-night comedy features an ensemble cast of actors, some of whom have appeared on our stages.

Each episode is written, rehearsed and performed during the same week and staged in front of a studio audience. The programme includes an opening monologue, topical sketches, music performances and a UK version of the news segment Weekend Update. A different guest host and musical guest appear in each episode.

Set to host upcoming episodes are Danny Dyer, WhatsOnStage Award winner James Norton and three-time Oscar nominee Cynthia Erivo. Previous hosts include Hannah Waddingham and Ncuti Gatwa.

Dyer has a long stage history as a collaborator with Harold Pinter, and his last West End performance was in 2019. Norton was recently seen on stage leading the award-winning adaptation of A Little Life, while Erivo performed a solo show of Dracula in the West End earlier this year, following the success of the Wicked films.

They will be joined by musical guests Sasha Keable, The Streets and Blossoms respectively.

Now in its second series, the cast includes Hammed Animashaun, Ayoade Bamgboye, Larry Dean, Celeste Dring, George Fouracres, Ania Magliano, Annabel Marlow, Freddie Meredith, Al Nash, Jack Shep, Emma Sidi and Paddy Young, with Animashaun, Fouracres, Marlow and Meredith all having started their careers in theatre.
