The 1950s musical opens at the Watermill Theatre in January
Casting has been announced for the revival of Tristan Bernays and Dougal Irvine's musical Teddy, which opens at the Watermill Theatre in Newbury in January.
Directed by Eleanor Rhode (Boudica), the cast will feature Molly Chesworth (Josie), Andrew Gallo (Sammy ‘The Sticks’ Smith), George Parker (Teddy), Freya Parks (Jenny O’Malley), Harrison White (Buster Watson) and Dylan Wood (Johnny Valentine).
Teddy is a 1950s rock ‘n’ roll musical which premiered at Southwark Playhouse in 2015 – winning Best New Musical at the Off West End Awards. It now returns with choreography by Tom Jackson Greaves, musical direction by Harrison White, design by Max Dorey, lighting by Christopher Nairne, sound by Max Pappenheim and costume by Holly Rose Henshaw.
Set in the aftermath of the Blitz, it tells the story of Teddy and Josie, ready for an unforgettable night out, no matter how dangerous the consequences. The score includes original songs as well as well-known hits from the era.
Teddy runs at the Watermill Theatre from 11 January to 10 February, and then tours to Lowry, Bury St Edmunds, Southampton, Chesterfield, Ipswich and the Vaults, London.
