Theatre Renegade’s charity event runs at The Other Palace on 24 July
Casting has today been announced for Theatre Renegade‘s one-off gala, In Response To… Politics. Madelena Alberto (Evita), Pippa Nixon (A Midsummer Night's Dream), Gloria Onitiri (The Taming of the Shrew) and Nigel Richards (The Phantom of the Opera) will lead the performance, taking place at The Other Palace on 24 July from 8pm.
Featuring pieces created to directly respond to political events in both the UK and abroad, the gala is raising funds for Liberty, a charity promoting protection of civil liberties and promoting human rights. Theatre Renegade have previously held an ‘In Response To…’ at the same venue in the wake of the Orlando attacks.
Among the writers taking part in the evening are Georgia Fitch (Fit and Proper People), Hassan Abdulrazzak (The Propehet) and Camilla Whitehill (Where Do Little Birds Go). Directors featured will include Rafaela Marcus, Lucy Atkinson and Nathan Crossan-Smith.
Ryan Forde Iosco, artistic director of Theatre Renegade said: "Many countries, our own included, are seeing a huge shift in their political landscape. This evening will see the theatre community come together to respond and raise its voice in solidarity."
In Response To…Politics will hold its one-off gala at The Other Palace on Monday 24 July from 8:00pm.
