The ”Poldark” opens in the West End in Martin McDonagh’s brutal play
Photos have been released offering a first look at Aidan Turner and the cast of The Lieutenant of Inishmore.
The show is currently in previews at the Noël Coward Theatre, opening on 4 July, and stars the lead from Poldark as Padraic, a terrorist who heads home after something happens to his cat.
Turner stars alongside Charlie Murphy (Peaky Blinders), Denis Conway (Wallenstein), Will Irvine (Lady Chatterley's Lover), Brian Martin (Boudica), Daryl McCormack (Othello), Julian Moore-Cook (Mother Courage and Her Children), and Chris Walley (Young Offenders). It also stars a cat.
Originally performed by the RSC in 2001, McDonagh's black comedy is set in Ireland in the early 1990s, and satirises terrorism and nationalism in the modern day. It has set and costume designs by Christopher Oram, lighting by Neil Austin, and sound and music by Adam Cork.
