Watermill Theatre announces 2019 spring season

The Watermill Theatre in Newbury has announced its 2019 spring season.

The Watermill Ensemble will present an actor-musician version of Shakespeare's Macbeth, directed by the venue's artistic director Paul Hart. Inspired by the likes of Johnny Cash, The xx and The Rolling Stones, the piece runs from 28 February to 30 March. It has design by Katie Lias, movement by Tom Jackson Greaves, lighting by Tom White, sound by David Gregory and video by Louise Rhoades-Brown.

Ed MacArthur and Jeremy Legat will star in a revival of the Watermill's hit 2017 production Murder for Two, directed by Luke Sheppard (In the Heights). The show runs at the Watermill from 30 January to 23 February, after completing a four-week run at The Other Palace.

A new production of Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest will run from 23 May to 29 June, with more information to be announced. Wildcard Theatre will present their award-winning Electrolyte on 5 May.

Marietta Kirkbridge will present new play Our Church from 16 to 20 July as part of a UK tour to village halls and rural venues. The piece explores what it means to live a haunted life on the sex offenders register.

The previously announced UK premiere of Amélie will run from 11 April to 18 May.
