Sweet Charity at the Watermill: first look photos

A brand new production of the classic musical is coming to Newbury

Photos have been released offering a first look at the brand new production of Sweet Charity at Newbury's Watermill Theatre.

Starring Gemma Sutton in the titular part, the 1966 musical is based on the black-and-white Fellini film Nights of Cabiria. It tells of the romantic ups and downs of a dancer-for-hire, and features classic numbers such as "Big Spender", "If My Friends Could See Me Now", "Rhythm of Life" and "I'm a Brass Band".

Joining Sutton in the show are Nicola Bryan (Carmen), Alex Cardall (Oscar), Vivien Carter (Nicky), Stacey Ghent (Rosie), Elliot Harper (Vittorio Vidal), Matthew James Hinchliffe (Daddy's Assistant), Samuel Morgan-Grahame (Herman), Emma-Jane Morton (Helene), Tomi Ogbaro (Daddy), Thomas Ping (Daddy's Assistant), Tom Self (onstage musical director) and Laura Sillett (Ursula).

It is directed by Paul Hart, with co-orchestration and musical supervision by Sarah Travis, co-orchestration and musical direction by Charlie Ingles and choreography by Tom Jackson Greaves. Diego Pitarch has designed the show with lighting by Malcolm Rippeth, sound by Tom Marshall and video projection by Louise Rhoades-Brown.
