Tobias Menzies, Michele Austin and more cast in The Hunt at the Almeida

David Farr adapts the hit Danish thriller for the stage

Initial casting has been announced for the Almeida Theatre's upcoming production of The Hunt.

Based on the Danish thriller film Jagten, the piece is adapted by David Farr and set in a small town in northern Denmark where children celebrate a Harvest Festival. The 2012 film starred Mads Mikkelsen as a man who becomes the target of mass hysteria.

Initial cast includes Michele Austin (Medea), Danny Kirrane (As You Like It), Tobias Menzies (The Crown) and Howard Ward (Eyam).

Joining them will be Stuart Campbell (professional stage debut), Adrian Der Gregorian (Mr Burns), Keith Higham (Kinky Boots), Harrison Houghton (Beauty and the Beast ), Poppy Miller (Harry Potter and The Cursed Child), Abbiegail Mills (professional stage debut), George Nearn Stuart (Les Vepres Siciliennes), Itoya Osagiede (Belong), Justin Salinger (Ink), Jethro Skinner (Tis Pity She's A Whore), Taya Tower (professional stage debut) and Florence White (Cat on a Hot Tin Roof).

The Hunt has direction by Rupert Goold with design by Es Devlin, costume by Evie Gurney, lighting by Neil Austin, sound and composition by Adam Cork, movement by Far From The Norm's artistic director and founder Botis Seva and casting by Amy Ball.

The show runs from 17 June to 3 August.
