Trevor Nunn will direct a new revival of the classic musical Fiddler on the Roof at the Menier Chocolate Factory this Christmas.

Jerry Bock, Sheldon Harnick and Joseph Stein's classic piece, first seen in London in 1967, and which features numbers including "Sunrise, Sunset", "If I Were a Rich Man" and "Matchmaker, Matchmaker", follows milkmaker Tevye, as he lives on a farm with his wife and five daughters.

It was last seen in London in 2007, with a major revival occurring last year at the Chichester Festival Theatre. This new version will run from 23 November until 9 March.

The production sees Nunn return to the venue, following previous successes with Lettice and Lovage, Love in Idleness (which later transferred to the West End), A Little Night Music (which transferred to the West End and Broadway) and Aspects of Love.

The venue is currently hosting the UK premiere of parody lampoon Spamilton, and will revive Hugh Whitemore's Pack of Lies before Fiddler opens in November.
