Winner of BBC1's Strictly Come Dancing Joe McFadden is to star in the UK tour of the stage adaptation of Peter James' The House on Cold Hill.

McFadden won the TV dance competition in 2017 and is to star as Ollie Harcourt in the piece which tells of a dream home which quickly turns into the stuff of nightmares. McFadden's other credits include Holby City, Heartbeat and The Crow Road.

McFadden said: "I am excited to have the opportunity to now bring Peter James' brilliant ghostly thriller to the stage for the very first time. I am looking forward to us shocking and thrilling audiences around the UK with The House On Cold Hill."

The House on Cold Hill follows Not Dead Enough, The Perfect Murder and Dead Simple to become the latest of James' works to be adapted on stage. The show opens its tour on 23 January at the Orchard Theatre in Dartford before touring to Nottingham Theatre Royal, Shrewsbury Severn Theatre, Coventry Belgrade Theatre and more until 28 May.

Ian Talbot directs the piece with Shaun McKenna adapting. Further casting is to be announced.
