Caroline, or Change cast announced for West End transfer

The cast joins the Olivier Award-winner Sharon D Clarke

Casting has been announced for the upcoming transfer of the Chichester Festival Theatre production of Tony Kushner and Jeannie Tesori's Caroline, or Change.

As previously announced, Sharon D Clarke will be reprising her critically acclaimed turn as Caroline Thibodeaux and will be joined by Naana Agyei-Ampadu, Keisha Amponsa Banson, Alastair Brookshaw, Me'sha Bryan, Angela Caesar, Dujonna Gift-Simms, Sue Kelvin, Teddy Kempner, Ako Mitchell, Abiona Omonua, Vincent Pirillo, Tanisha Spring and Lauren Ward with Cassiopeia Berkeley-Agyepong, Zalika Henry, Laura Medforth, Timothy Quinlan and Teddy Wills.

Nine performers are cast in the roles of Noah, Jackie and Joe, with Isaac Forward, Aaron Gelkoff and Jack Meredith alternating the role of Noah and Mark Mwangi, Kenya Sandy and Jeremiah Waysome alternating the role of Jackie. The role of Joe will be alternated by Josiah Choto, David Dube and Raphael Higgins-Hume.

Michael Longhurst, the incoming artistic director of the Donmar Warehouse, directs the piece, which is set in Louisiana in 1963 and follows the Gellman household's poor black maid and her complicated relationship with eight year-old Noah Gellman.

The piece has designs from Fly Davis, choreography from Ann Yee, musical direction from Nigel Lilly, lighting from Jack Knowles and sound from Paul Arditti. It originally opened at Chichester in May last year before running at Hampstead Theatre in March 2018.

The show opens at the Playhouse Theatre on 20 November.
